Medicare Reimbursement Specialist

Overview:

Join a dynamic team dedicated to supporting hospitals in navigating Medicare reimbursement and compliance. This role involves preparing and reviewing cost reports, ensuring compliance with CMS regulations, and analyzing hospital accounting for Medicare accounts. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative yet autonomous environment, excels in communication, and possesses in-depth knowledge of healthcare reimbursement processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review hospital Medicare cost reports, ensuring CMS compliance.
  • Analyze Medicare bad debt reimbursement and validate hospital data.
  • Manage data collection and analysis for cost reporting and compliance.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Medicare reimbursement regulations and CMS guidelines.
  • Differentiate between insurance payers, including Managed Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, and Self-Pay accounts.
  • Communicate issues effectively and ensure timely resolution.
  • Utilize EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech) and Microsoft Office Suite for reporting and analysis.
  • Meet strict deadlines for cost report submissions.

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience in hospital accounting, particularly with Medicare bad debt and cost reporting.
  • Proficiency in EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech.
  • Advanced Microsoft Suite skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with CMS guidelines for cost reporting and Medicare bad debt.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Hands-on SQL query experience.
  • Knowledge of reimbursement processes with carriers like Novitas Solutions, Palmetto GBA, or Noridian.
