CAD Technician ll (OSP)
( On-site - The Woodlands, TX )
JOB DESCRIPTION
The CAD Drafter lI is a position that will work with the engineering team on the production of outside plant drawings for fiber-based telecommunications infrastructure projects and will report to the OSP Lead Engineer. Responsibilities will include the drafting of communications infrastructure using AutoCAD, with an emphasis on Road Moves and OSP fiber optic cable infrastructure projects. General knowledge of the standards and specifications of utility Right-of-Way owners, utility owners and OSP construction practices for fiber optic cable plant is a plus. Draft OSP construction drawings in AutoCAD for jurisdictional permitting.
REQUIRED
- 2+ years of CAD Drafting experience
- Experience in Outside Plant (OSP), Fiber, Telecommunications industry
- Experience using AutoCAD or AutoCAD Civil 3D for drafting
- Experience with permitting entities
- Strong skills with MS Office Suite – Word, Excel, etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support engineers with drafting and design responsibilities on a diverse range of public and private projects
- Strong Utility Background with experience in abandonment and adjustments for water, sanitary, storm sewer, natural gas distribution, and transmission
- Prepare complete construction drawings sets and exhibits while coordinating with a design team
- Understand the concepts and principles of land surveying and civil engineering
- Ability to perform and collect field work data
- Work under the general direction of OSP Lead Engineer and OSP Engineering Supervisor
- Self-motivated individual and be able to work in a team environment and willing to learn
- Strong work ethic, as well as ability to multi-task and have strong attention to detail, under strict timelines
- Learn and adapt to company drafting standard
