We are seeking a Fiber Optic Splicer based in the Austin, TX area to support field operations from the ground up. This role reports to the Fiber Splicing Manager and offers an excellent opportunity to join a growing team, gain hands-on experience, and advance your career in telecommunications.
Responsibilities
Work with clients to plan installations, including aerial and underground cabling, and pull fiber through conduits
Follow blueprints and technical diagrams to ensure accurate installation
Provide detailed production forecasts and status updates to project management teams
Maintain accurate production data and progress tracking in internal project management systems
Troubleshoot issues on existing network lines and provide 24/7 emergency response support as needed
Maintain all equipment in proper working condition and report malfunctions
Calibrate and maintain splicing equipment and tools
Document installations, splicing activity, and test results
Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, including state, local, DOT, and OSHA requirements
Coordinate with permitting agencies, inspectors, and other stakeholders
Perform preventive and emergency maintenance on network infrastructure, including utility locates, route inspections, damage prevention, and repairs
Assist customers with new service setup and coordinate with construction crews
Use testing equipment to verify fiber integrity and performance
Diagnose and repair signal loss and cable damage issues
Maintain proper traffic control and job site safety while working efficiently
