Sr. Inventory Cost Accountant

Job Description

  • Execute month-end closing procedures related to inventory valuation.
  • Create and maintain ACCESS databases, generate reports, and perform complex queries.
  • Review inventory receipts to ensure accuracy and post necessary journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Maintain and update standard costs and Bills of Materials for all manufactured goods.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of the general ledger and financial statements.
  • Ensure proper documentation of standard costs and inventory values in accordance with established procedures.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts related to inventory.
  • Assist the Inventory Accounting Manager in preparing audit schedules and other tasks throughout the year.
  • Lead plant inventory cycle count audits, including some travel requirements.
  • Provide mentoring and training to Inventory Cost Accountants.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 4+ years of experience in a corporate accounting environment, with a focus on manufacturing.
  • 3+ years of inventory accounting experience within a manufacturing company.
  • Strong understanding of current accounting principles and expert-level knowledge of cost accounting.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, ACCESS).
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
