Position Summary

The Transaction Associate/Manager is responsible for managing and supporting residential mortgage-related purchase/sale and security transactions. This position oversees and coordinates multiple processes to ensure the success of each transaction. Effective management of both internal and external relationships is crucial. The role requires experience in the mortgage industry, including bulk whole loan purchases, bulk and flow whole loan sales, and public/private security transactions. The position involves extensive interaction with internal teams (capital markets, underwriting, legal and compliance, IT, servicing, funding, treasury) and external parties such as loan sellers, loan buyers, brokers, and document custodians.

Responsibilities & Duties
  • Coordinate transaction-related functions and requirements with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage transaction timelines to ensure timely settlements.
  • Communicate and distribute transaction loan populations and data files as required per transaction documents and requirements.
  • Lead kickoff and status update calls with stakeholders.
  • Coordinate loan due diligence requirements with underwriting/compliance and summarize statuses for stakeholders.
  • Facilitate the completion of reliance letters, data share agreements, and due diligence documentation.
  • Ensure bailee letters are in place, and collateral is shipped/received at the custodian.
  • Track and resolve collateral exceptions and certifications with third-party custodians.
  • Settle transactions according to contracts and coordinate wires with the Treasury department.
  • Collaborate with the servicing department to ensure smooth post-settlement servicing transfer.
  • Support securitization transactions as needed.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Business.
  • 2+ years (Associate) or 5+ years (Manager) of experience in the mortgage industry.
  • Strong listening and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of mortgage banking, secondary markets, whole loan transactions, RMBS, and warehouse financing.
  • Ability to engage stakeholders to surface essential requirements for transaction completion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to help prioritize among stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with transaction legal documentation to ensure accurate settlements.
  • Ability to summarize and communicate residential loan due diligence results and exceptions.
  • Excellent organizational skills for timely and accurate transaction settlements.
  • Knowledge of collateral files and custodial exception reconciliation.
  • Technologically proficient, with strong Excel skills.
  • Attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Analytical thinking and professionalism.
